Time Witch is a puzzle platformer where a witch can slow down or speed up time to get past obstacles that can't be done at normal speed. Use that power wisely to help her overcome obstacles.
- Dodging: Dodging an opponent's strike at the last second is the most frequent and straightforward method of entering Witch Time. However, not all strikes will go into Witch Moment at the chosen time, so dodging is still necessary to avoid receiving damage.
- Bat Within: When Bayonetta is hit, pressing the button to avoid the frame will cause her to turn into a swarm of bats for a brief while before she reverts back to her normal appearance. The Time Witch will likewise be awakened, albeit its duration will be somewhat extended.
- Selene's Light: When engaged, Witch Time lasts for a somewhat shorter amount of time.
- Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa: If Bayonetta is damaged before she can use Extended Witch Time, she will conduct a customized counterattack that will do damage and trigger Extended Witch Time.
- Bracelet of Time: Gives the player the option to use Wizarding Time anytime they choose, so long as they have enough magic. In the original Bayonetta, the length of Sorcery Time was set by the player by holding down the button, albeit this soon depleted Bayonetta's power. Time Bracelet in Bayonetta 2 activates Sorcery Time for a certain period of time and uses significantly less magic than casting it normally would (4 orbs minimum).

- A/D or left and right arrow keys = move
- W or up arrow key = jump
- V/Y/I or space = distort the time
